Here is your most epic toddler Christmas gift guide! Everything is linked on Amazon, there are over 35 items on this list and everything is under $50! It doesn’t get any easier than that. Here we go!
I only recommend products I would use myself and all opinions expressed here are our own. This post may contain affiliate links that at no additional cost to you, I may earn a small commission.
Books
Books are the perfect gift no matter what at any age but toddlers are so curious to learn. My 1 year old uses books more than all of her other toys so we will just keep getting her books!
One book we are getting her this year is the LeapFrog Learning Friends 100 Words book. It has so many settings (in English and Spanish!) and thick pages that are interactive.
Other books that are great for young babes are Poke-a-Dot books, Are You My Mother, Dear Zoo, and this set of Bedtime Stories.
Christmas
These are just some specific Christmas items that are perfect for toddlers but can grow with them and become family heirlooms as your family expands or your child gets older!
Two Christmas board books telling the first Christmas story are Christmas in the Manger and The First Christmas. They’re a great way to tell your young kids about the meaning of Christmas!
I worked at a daycare for years and we once made a felt tree to stick on the wall that the 1-2 year olds could decorated and take down and decorate over and over again. Turns out they sell this kit on Amazon. A felt tree is perfect for small hands and it won’t get destroyed easily!
I found two really great wooden nativity sets on Amazon (that I really want for myself!). The first one is this 3D stable with wooden cut out characters. It has lots of pieces and can help you tell the Christmas story.
The second one is a wooden puzzle nativity that you’re able to set up the characters and the wooden base acts as the stable back drop! I’ve never seen anything like this and this could quickly become a favorite for the whole family.
Building
I love watching my little girl learning to build and put this together. Her fine motor skills are developing fast and these building toys are perfect for her!
If you haven’t heard of Magnatiles yet you need to check them out! Anyone can use them and there are so many possibilities to what you can make with them. They’re really great if you have a light table to use them with too.
These Picasso Tiles bring me back to elementary school! I didn’t know that’s what they were called but do you remember these? They have all the little connector sides that you can stick the pieces together and make whatever you want.
Another great option is the classic MegaBlocks. An introduction to Legos but perfect for tiny hands to grasp and learn how things connect and stack.
Essentials
I had to add some basics on here because you’ve got to get some of the things you NEED for Christmas too!
I love this hat we got for Violet this year. It comes in so many different colors and the furry pompom on top snaps on and off!
These are her favorite straw cups to use and I’m telling you they DO NOT LEAK. It’s what every parent wants to hear. And no matter which way she tips the cup she can still drink out of it. They’re basically magic.
Pajamas. Every kid needs them. And these are some cozy footy zipper fleece ones perfect for winter time.
I love this step stool. It has handles, it’s cute, it’ll go with any bathroom. These are the things I think about as a parent! One day she’ll be about to wash her hands by herself and she’s going to need a stool!
Imaginative Play
When I think of imaginative play I think of plastic tool sets and plastic food and discarded baby dolls and a bunch of messes that mom has to clean up. It’s true that I’ll most likely still be cleaning up for while but I’ve found some NON-PLASTIC pretty cool items for you.
A tiny metal shopping cart is the most darling thing I’ve found on the internet today. Can’t you see your toddler sticking their baby or their monkey in the front seat and filling up their cart with random junk and pushing it around the living room telling you they’re going shopping? It’s too much. But it’s not too expensive! It’s only $32!
I found a wooden sensory bin kit for those parents adventurous to try things like that. I’m totally kidding but this is really cool! Perfect for littles to learn scooping, pouring, pinching, and sorting.
Another really awesome gift is this fruits and veggies chopping set. Small wooden fruits and vegetables velcroed together and it comes with small wooden knives (and graters!) to practice your chopping skills! How adorable!
Last one on this section is a wooden kitchen accessories set. Pots and pans and salt and pepper shakers and table settings. Love it.
Basics
These are the toys that I would deem as essentials to your child’s play kit. Or basic toys that have been around for years and that everyone loves.
A plush dog or doll are the most simple forms of play. My daughter loves here babies and she’s only 1!
The Cozy Coupe is such a classic. They’ve revamped it over the years but it stays the same. I love this white DIY one honestly because it’s white but it has potential to be decorated one day.
A wooden stacker is also so classic as are these wooden cars. We have this dog pull toy and love it because it doesn’t tip over like some other pull toys.
Little People are just the cutest figurines your toddler can start off with! I love this community helpers set.
I found this hammer ball and xylophone toy and thought it was great twist on an old classic. The xylophone slides out and it becomes two toys if you want it to!
For right now Violet loves just chewing on her foam letters and numbers but one day she might learn from them. We use these in the bathtub and just to play with. It comes with a mesh bag so you can dry them easily after bath time too!
New Toys
Maybe because I was born in the 90s and because I only have one kid but these are what I consider to be “new, hip, cool” toys. I’m so old.
We don’t watch a lot of TV yet but one show that everyone loves is Bluey. Do yourself a favor and introduce it to your kids if you haven’t yet. I could probably do a whole blog post on the show it’s incredible. It’s on Disney+. Anyway here’s a little Bluey car with Bluey.
Pop-its are the new everything. Gosh these things are so weird and so smart all at the same time. And yes even my 1 year old loves these. This is a super cheap but great set on Amazon!
I love this bubble lawn mower. I have a friend with twins who had to buy two of these because her toddlers fought over the one! A great gift to buy for Christmas to look forward to summer!
I know your kid is always stealing your phone so why not get them their own? This LeapFrog phone has a tiny simple screen and good for toddler’s hands buttons. We have an old version of this phone and this one looks way better and I want this one now. I’m getting very greedy writing this post!
These probably aren’t very “new” per say but I don’t think I had these as a kid so I’m adding them on here. But animal stackers you can use by themselves or stack up all together.
My niece and nephew have one of these tablet drawing boards and I think it’s just genius. It’s like a modern version of an etch-a-sketch or one of those magnet writing boards we use to have. It’s so fun to draw or write on then everything erases with the click of a button.
Another toy that’s not particularly new but it’s just really good to have is this learning table. We have this exact one and Violet ADORES it. She uses it every single day, it has 3 different learning levels, and some is in Spanish. I think it’s the most expensive thing on my list but it’s only $42.
The final item of the day is a little video game controller. It’s just a fun toy to have if you have other gamers in the family. The one we have is sold out but this one looks almost exactly the same. It’s super cute and it introduces colors, shapes, letters, and numbers.
There we are for the ultimate mega list for any toddler at Christmas! Save this list on Pinterest because these toys won’t be going out of style any time soon.
Find the full Amazon list here and if you’re looking for more Amazon lists I have those here as well! I have a whole slew of other gift guides for everyone on your lists too. Happy shopping!
