The BEST Edible Cookie Dough Recipe

One thing I always crave is some fluffy and sugary cookie dough.  Were you one of the kids that were allowed to lick the beaters?  Sometimes my dad would save a tiny bowl of dough left for me.

I didn’t know you could make just plain cookie dough – no eggs and safe to eat – until about 3 years ago.  And let me tell you what, now I make it ALL THE TIME.

First of all, it’s super quick to make.  Second, you don’t have to bake it.  And 3rd, you can make it all in one bowl.  That ticks all the boxes for a lazy girl like me!

So if you’re craving a sweet treat, look no further!

Equipment

  • stand mixer or hand mixer
  • large bowl

Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup salted butter softened (or 2 sticks)
  • 2 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp milk (or more if needed)
  • 1 cup miniature semi sweet chocolate chips (or as many as you like!)
  • coconut, heath chips, peanut butter chips or whatever add ins you want

Instructions

  • Make sure butter is softened room temperature. In a large bowl, cream together butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until fluffy and light in color. About 1 minute. Beat in vanilla.
  • Mix in flour until just combined. Add milk of choice one tablespoon at a time (I just splash in a little at a time) until dough starts to come together. Mix in chocolate chips.
  • One of my favorite add ins is shredded coconut or you can add whatever you want!

A few tips for success:

  1. If you didn’t soften your butter ahead of time, put the two sticks of butter in the microwave (still wrapped) for 30 seconds, rotating them every 5 seconds.  Perfectly softened butter.
  2. Use a bowl you know has a lid so you can stick that lid on after you’ve demolished half the bowl and throw it in the fridge.

I know you’ll love making this as much as I do, and I KNOW you’ll love eating it even more!

Ok, see you later, about to go make some of this RIGHT NOW!
